GOODWILL MESSAGE FOR RCCG WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2025

GOODWILL MESSAGE
FROM THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTITIONER ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (EPHPAN)

ON THE OCCASION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2025 CELEBRATION HOSTED BY REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD

I bring you warm greetings on behalf of the National Executive Council and the entire membership of the Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioner Association of Nigeria (EPHPAN) as we join voices across the globe to commemorate World Environment Day 2025 with the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution.”

I wish to specially commend the Environmental Health Department of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) for organizing this timely and impactful event. Your commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable living is worthy of emulation and a clear testament to the role faith-based institutions can play in advancing public health and environmental consciousness.

The menace of plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. From clogged drainages and contaminated oceans to the disruption of ecosystems and public health threats, the unsustainable use and disposal of plastic is an issue we can no longer ignore. The theme of this year’s celebration rightly calls for urgent, unified action across sectors and communities to rethink, reduce, reuse, and ultimately eliminate plastic waste.

As Environmental and Public Health Practitioners, we reaffirm our resolve to continue promoting environmental literacy, advocating for effective waste management policies, and supporting innovative solutions that foster a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Nigeria. We encourage all stakeholders—government agencies, private sector actors, civil society groups, and indeed, religious institutions—to collaborate in addressing the scourge of plastic pollution.

Let us remember that care for the environment is care for humanity. Every bottle not discarded improperly, every habit changed, and every voice raised in advocacy contributes to a greener future for our children and generations yet unborn.

Once again, I salute the leadership and vision of the RCCG Environmental Health Department for spearheading this initiative, and I wish all participants a successful and enlightening World Environment Day celebration.

Together, we can end plastic pollution.
Together, we can heal the planet.

Yours in Public Health Service,
Dr. Akingbehin Samuel Akinbodunwa Fwapceh, Fsephon
National President
Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioner Association of Nigeria (EPHPAN)
