New Leadership Pledges Professionalism, Unity, and Commitment to Advancing Environmental and Public Health Practice in LagosLagos, Nigeria – November 1, 2025In a significant step toward strengthening environmental and public health practice, the Lagos State Chapter of the Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (EPHPAN) was officially inaugurated on Saturday, November 1, 2025.The historic event marks a new chapter for the professional body, reinforcing its mission to promote collaboration, elevate standards, and unify practitioners across the state and beyond.A Strong Start Rooted in PurposeThe inaugural meeting, convened by Mr. Sulaimon A. Osho, commenced at 11:16 a.m. with an opening prayer led by Inem Ukpong. In his welcome address, Osho emphasized the importance of unity, professionalism, and purposeful leadership as the pillars for the association’s success.“The strength of this association lies in our collective commitment and active participation,” he stated. “This inauguration is not just ceremonial—it represents the birth of a structured and coordinated team that will drive our shared vision forward.”A Vision for Collaboration, Not CompetitionDelivering the keynote address, the National President of EPHPAN, Dr. S. A. Akingbehin, described the occasion as a defining moment for practitioners in Lagos State.He underscored that EPHPAN is not positioned in rivalry with other professional bodies but instead serves as a unifying platform for environmental and public health professionals nationwide. He encouraged members to prioritize collaboration over competition, noting that collective progress is essential for the advancement of the field.Dr. Akingbehin also expressed confidence in Lagos State’s ability to lead by example, highlighting its strategic role as Nigeria’s commercial hub. He commended Mr. Osho’s leadership and acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Tolu of Rotimax Pest Control for his continued support of the association.Support and Commitment to GrowthIn a goodwill message, Dr. Tolu expressed excitement at the successful establishment of the Lagos chapter—a long-envisioned milestone. He urged members to remain dedicated, emphasizing that sustainable growth requires intentional and consistent effort.As part of his support, he announced his sponsorship of national newspaper coverage for the event, ensuring broader visibility and documentation of this important milestone.Newly Appointed LeadershipFollowing deliberations by a mini-electoral college, a team of executives was appointed to lead the association for an initial term of six to nine months:Chairman: Mr. Sulaimon A. (Environmental Health Officer, Lagos State Government)Welfare Officer II: Ms. Alimi Mujeebah (Public Health Practitioner)The executives were formally sworn in by the National President, who reminded them of the responsibility they now carry. He also noted that their tenure had effectively commenced two months prior to the inauguration.A Commitment to ExcellenceIn his acceptance speech, Chairman Mr. Osho expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and his team.
